The number ‘1984’ is well-known as a book title written by George Orwell. In addition to that, my birth of year is ‘1984’, so artwork or novel inspired by the number of ‘1984’ particularly catch my eyes.

Electronic artist, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer‘s interactive artwork ‘Nineteen Eighty-Four‘ (2014) is also one of the artworks that I like for a simple reason- as you can imagine from his work title.

The numbers on display are house address numbers extracted from Google Street View images. In his artwork description, the display writes over 22billion different combinations of the number 1984. There is also a numeric keypad on the right side that people can type four digits in this play. The typed number shows on display and then automatically these figures goes down or up till the number 1984 is reached. At this point, the random combination of 1984 starts to run on the display.
